Chinese Steamed Eggplant with Garlic Sauce


8 Chinese Eggplants (you can replace them for regular eggplants, cut in big chunks)


¼ cup Soy Sauce

3 Garlic Cloves, chopped

2 tbsp. Sugar

1 tsp. Sesame Oil

1 tsp. Rice Vinegar

To serve:

Green Onions, sliced

Red Pepper Flakes


1. Heat the sesame oil in a small saucepan at medium temperature. Add the garlic and cook for 5 minutes, making sure it doesn't burn.

2. Add the soy sauce, sugar and rice vinegar, and cook for 5 more minutes or until it starts to thicken.

3. Bring a pot of water to a boil, prepare your Happy Home Story steamer with a paper liner and arrange the eggplants in the grids, place it over a pot of boiling water. Cook them for around 25 minutes, flipping them halfway through, or until they are soft in the insides.

4. Serve them with the sauce, green onions and red pepper flakes.
